Churches and chapels #4.
Westoe Road Baptist Church, South Shields
The Baptist Church in Westoe Road, South Shields was built in 1881 and since then has used a traditional full immersion baptistery to follow the doctrines of St. John the Baptist for those wishing to be cleansed of sin before entering the church.
This is the fully tiled Victorian baptistery which would be filled with water on such occasions where the baptismal rites call for the neophyte, or entrant, to be fully immersed thrice.
Camera details: Pentax K100, 28mm lens, 1/15th. second, f6.7, iso 800
