The Cove
South Marine Park
One of the first eye catching results of the renovations to South Shields South Marine Park is a new childrens’ play area filled with the latest in challenging and adventurous climbing frames, sand and water. It’s been named “The Cove”. It took only a few days since it was opened for it’s popularity to soar.

South Marine Park
We are rightly proud of our three main sea front parks, the South Marine Park in South Shields is currently undergoing a very expensive and exciting renovation with the aid of cash from the National Lottery Fund. Eventually it will be restored to how it was meant to be when it was first opened in the days of Queen Victoria. I found this specimen in a rose bed near the Ocean Road entrance to the park.
Welcome to South Shields
Northumbria in Bloom
This floral display in the North Marine Park, South Shields is probably related to South Tyneside Council’s decision to enter the Northumbria in Bloom Competition. Despite the poor recent weather we have floral displays, hanging baskets, and flower boxes popping up all over the borough to add a welcome splash of colour.
I’ve published this picture on my other blog and photoshopped it for a little fun, I’m just dying to see who notices and what sort of reaction it gets!
Stickman!
The drummer
The Living Waters Youth Band from Laygate South Shields were one of three bands to entertain the crowds at the Westoe Village fete last Saturday. This young man had a very concentrated look.

Barbecue, Westoe Village fete, South Shields
The rain and the thunderstorm didn’t deter people from queuing up for the barbecue at Westoe Village’s annual fete last Saturday in South Shields, whether the burgers were grilled or steamed is anybody’s guess, but the aroma was certainly inviting!
