About
This site is a Photoblog, a place where I can show you in pictures the sights and scenery of my home town, South Shields, in the North-East of England. Now and then I might show you pictures of other places of interest nearby.
On the whole the pictures will be as my camera sees them, with very little in the way of post processing, if I have made any great use of Photoshop then I will let you know. My current camera is no big deal it’s a Pentax K100D digital SLR, which was about the biggest that I could afford at the time, besides, my own view is that a good picture is taken in the mind, the equipment is irrelevant. Most of my posts will contain a map link to Google Maps so you can clearly see the locations where pictures were taken, it will also help familiarise yourself about where South Shields is in relation to the rest of the U.K.
Since August of 2006 I have been a member of the Daily City Photoblogging community who set out to publish just one picture each day of their home towns, it’s been great fun, so if you have the time please visit one or two of the sites in the links pages. The old Curly’s Photoshop site is also still available in the links until such time as I can log in to the old Blogger site and transfer all of the posts to here.
Please enjoy your visit!

Update July 2009
I have been posting on this photoblog for three years now and it is becoming increasingly difficult to find the inspiration to provide something new or fresh about South Shields on a daily basis. The time has come to bring this adventure to a close, although this will not be final and the site will be left available for readers to view and pass comment. I will be posting images now and then but no longer every day, I will make the final “daily” posting at the end of August 2009.
It has for the most part been very enjoyable and I hope that the site will be seen as a good attempt to portray South Shields and it’s surroundings in the north of England in a positive light, I must thank my friends and colleagues in the City Daily Community for their input and interest, and I have welcomed the opportunity to see and learn a little about their own communities around the world.
My photography will not be disappearing altogether from the web and I have already started a new project on the Aminus3 platform, which is far more conducive to the traditional photoblog format with familiar forward and backward navigation.
South Shields Daily Pictures already has some images loaded into it and is attracting some interest from a new community of photographers and others, if you like it, please add it to your bookmarks or favourites.
Thank you for your support and for visiting and taking an interest in this site over the past three years.
Curly.
