Halloweeen special

My children were invited to a themed Halloween party yesterday evening with some of their friends and family in South Shields, and I’ve agreed to share some of the pictures here (for the benefit of the family). I had a disaster when I got home and accidentally wiped all of the pictures from one memory card, so this is all that remains.

I guess we’d better consider this a “bonus”.

Hope you enjoy the slideshow, if you’d like to add one to your photoblog on WordPress then I can recommend Slide.com and RockYou.com.

Did you have a spooky special night?

  5. What a great slideshow Curly! Thoroughly enjoyed it. And yes, we had an extremely spooky night at our house — listening to political news!

  7. Wow, great job on this I am soooo impressed! Thanks for your visit to my blog. I recently visited the Hampshires and London. What a fantastic country you live in! I so appreciated the sense of history London seems to retain.

  9. Curly, what a fun slide show! Thanks for inviting me by to see it. Sorry to hear the American costume and trick or treat tradition seems to be invading England :-), but it looks like everyone at this party had a lovely time. The trick or treat aspect of it (which was HUGE during my parents and my growing up years) has declined and fewer children every year go door to door. But dressing up, even for adults at work, and going to parties is what is taking the old tradition’s place. Yard displays have become as elaborate as Christmas time, too. Very commercial, but the children do love it.

    • Kim… We have had ‘trick or trick’ as we call it over here for generations! And we don’t go walking around dressed up as M&M’s either. And you mean the U.K.

    • I know you wrote that a few years ago now, however… We have had treat or treat in the U.K (not just England, the ‘tradition doesn’t suddenly stop at the so called border with Wales and Scotland and N.Ireland’ you know ) for generations!!!

We dress up as ghosts, vampires, witches. That type of thing. Mostly children will dress up and knock on people’s doors and when the occupant opens the door, the kids say ”trick or trick”

We do not dress up as M&M’s or Game Boys like you guys seem to mostly do in the US.

Halloween and trick or treat is a very old tradition here. And goes back hundreds of years.
