Walking the dogs on The Leas, South Shields

Walking on The Leas, South Shields

The Leas, owned by The National Trust, stretch for over 3.5 miles between South Shields and Whitburn and are a wonderful expanse of natural grass on top of the cliffs overlooking the North Sea. A great place for exercise, fresh air, and walking the dogs, just as this lady is doing with her three German Shepherds.

Perhaps she is getting some practice in for the Butcher’s Great North Dog Walk on Sunday 17th. June, an event on The Leas which is now mentioned in the Guinness Book of Records and holds the World Record as the biggest dog walk ever with 7,776 dogs representing 147 breeds. You can be sure that I’ll be there to try and capture some canine snaps for South Shields Daily Photo!
