In the pasture
It is not all urban here you know!
Just because we live in the heart of Tyneside with it’s long industrial history, and just because we have over 160,000 people living in and around South Shields and the rest of the borough, doesn’t mean we don’t have little pieces of the countryside to enjoy you know. We actually have a few very important pieces of green land that separate the towns and villages of South Tyneside, much of it is arable and we have some agriculture too. I found these horses in a pasture near the Newton Garths farm which lies between South Shields and Boldon Colliery (see the map link).
There are some pleasant walks to be had there, it is peaceful and quiet, and the noise of the traffic just disappears, like magic!
