QE2 off South Shields

Queen Elizabeth 2

South Shields Daily Photo has been away on holiday for a while and these pictures have been brought to you as if by magic.

In September 2007 the Cunard luxury liner Queen Elizabeth 2 paid her last visit to the Tyne and she is pictured here steaming off the coast at South Shields before navigating her way into the harbour.

Picture taken from the North Marine Park in South Shields.

  5. How this brought memoires flooding back.

We sailed on her the day after the ‘Hurricane’ that never was. Three weeks – New York, Baltimore, Carribean and back again. The most wonderful experience of my life.

Well done Cunard and the staff that served us and the crew that sailed her.

I still wonder why boats, ships are called ‘her’.
