A peach of a rose
Summer bloom in the Readhead Park
I took a nice walk late yesterday afternoon, past Wood Terrace cricket ground in South Shields and through Westoe Village before passing the college and taking in the Readhead Park. It’s a small park, but because the tennis from Wimbledon is on the TV and radio, the three courts were all occupied by youngsters getting to grips with the game, the periphery of the tennis courts is lined with rose bushes and this is where I found this beauty. I’m surprised at the size of the roses there, they haven’t had a lot of direct warmth from the sun so far this year as we seem to have received quite a lot of sea fret and low clouds hanging around the coast.
Warm and muggy, but obviously favourable for roses.
By the time I strode home I was not as fragrant as those I’d left behind!
