Sandhaven Beach, South Shields

Sandhaven Beach, South Shields

This is one of the troubles with shifting sands and northerly winds, the beach moves all over the place, sometimes it tries to cross the road and get onto the football pitches too. That’s the reason why these wooden fences are dug in to attempt to capture the movement of these dunes which play a large part in protecting the ecosystem of the coastline.

  2. The winds there must be quite strong to bury the fence like that.

Beautiful photo of such a relaxing scene.

  3. I remember that beach well…very sheltered if you were by the beach wall…and very windy if you were anywhere else!
