The White Horse, South Shields

Outdoor learning

A class of children from harton school enjoying a bracing walk in the fresh air and learning all of the old stories about the White Horse. The horse is painted on the cliff face at Marsden Craggs, and old quarrying site in South Shields, the geological composition is identical to Marsden Rock and the cliffs that make our coastline.

For many years the White Horse was visible from Prince Edward Road, but recent housing developments have obscured the view, I think it can be seen, and is map pinned, in Google earth.

Camera details: Pentax K100D, 28 mm lens, 1/500 second, f6.7, iso 200
