Procession of witness, South Shields

158th. Annual Procession of Witness

Yesterday in South Shields we saw the 158th. Annual Good Friday Procession of Witness organised by the Sunday Schools Union. This mainly Christian Methodist organisation arranges for it’s Sunday Schools to be joined by their bands as they parade their banners in a procession to mark Christ’s crucifixion, they came from differing churches around the town and meet en route with parents and public following behind to congregate at either the Market Place or the West Park. After they have held a short service they are generally addressed by the Mayor of South Tyneside before parading back to their churches.

Here we see members of the Boy’s Brigade taking a short break before the service begins in the West Park, you can see more pictures – here.

Camera details, Pentax K100D, 300 mm lens, 1/500 second, f6.7, iso 200

  1. This takes me back to the boys brigade band. Many years have passed since then. Nice post.
