South Marine Park, South Shields

Re-opening day

I deliberately set about creating this sepia toned image in Photoshop with the intention of trying to find the look and  flavour of the type of postcard that was sold in King Street, South Shields in between the wars and in the early 1950s. This was the crowd that began to form as we prepared for the Mayor of South Tyneside to officially re-open the South Marine Park by cutting the ribbons which were tied about the band stand.

It’s a scene that I can imagine happened many years ago when the park was oiginally created by landscape gardener Mr. Peel.

Camera details: Pentax K100D, 82 mm lens, 1/500 second f8, iso 200
