Hendon Port, Sunderland

The port, Sunderland

I cannot always promise good views from the North of England, we still have some industrial landscapes left up here despite going through one or two recessions over the years. Just a few miles down the coast from South Shields the city of Sunderland is attempting to regenerate and transform itself and break away from it’s industrial past which consisted of coal mining, ship building, glass making, and chemical works. However it still has a port and there are many petrochemical installations associated with it.

This is the view from the railway line that crosses Hendon Beach, see if you can spot the lighthouse.
