A collection of images from South Shields and the North of England

HMS Ark Royal #4

Petty Officer, HMS Ark Royal

The cheerful crew member

As HMS Ark Royal was taking on board hundreds of visitors during her visit to North Shields and the River Tyne, there had to be plenty of crew available to greet their guests and show them round. Some of the crew were lucky enough to have received a free ticket for the Newcastle vs Sunderland football game and had headed up to St. James Park when we arrived from South Shields.

This young man (I believe) is a Petty Officer.

Cropped from a larger image and using Quick Mask in Photoshop I half toned the background before applying a Gaussian blur and a tint.

Camera details: Pentax K100D, 28mm lens, 1/45 second, f9.5, iso 200

  1. As always, I apologize for the infrequency of my comments but I couldn’t pass this up. It has exceptional personal warmth and cheer.
