Princess Anne in South Shields

Princess Anne revisits South Shields

Princess Anne, the Princess Royal is the only daughter of the Queen (I offer this for the information of overseas visitors), she is currently tenth in line to the throne of 16 countries.

Today she revisted South Shields to open our new Registry Office next to the Town Hall in South Shields. The Registry Office is where all births and deaths are registered and recorded and is also used for civil weddings and partnership ceremonies.  She was here too about a year ago to officially launch the new North-South Shields Ferry.

Here’s the picture of our Royal guest arriving to a single salute and a volley of cheers from Town Hall employees almost hanging out of their office windows!

Camera details: Pentax K100D, 200mm lens, /90 second, f5.6, iso 200

  2. Wow. Only one to salute? If anything like that happened here, the entire military would have been present! I like yours much better.

  4. An excellent photo! I enjoyed the broad smile of the girl doing the saluting. It reminds me of the look on world reknown cellist Yo-Yo Ma’s face as he played during the inaugeration of President Obama.

  5. That’s a great photo. It’s lovely to see the smile on the girl saluting. And I’ve always like Princess Anne. She says what she thinks and gets on with it. She’s great.
