Mecca Bingo, Westoe
It’s almost a national past time in the UK isn’t it?
This is the Mecca Bingo hall at Westoe, South Shields, in the background you can see the Woodside which used to be part of the old Hedworth Hall, but they are two separate businesses now, the “Yella Welly” (Golden Slipper Club) no longer exists.
In the foreground is a small restaurant, a taxi office and a wedding supplies business, in years gone by this whole corner was occupied by Pratts, a “wine merchant” where you could by just about any alcoholic beverage in the world and hire a couple of hundred glasses too if you were planning a party.
How times change….”eyes down!”
