South Shields town centre

South Shields town centre

Christmas is that special time of year when we set about preparing to bear gifts to the rest of the family and remember God’s gift to the world, his son Jesus Christ. That special appeal sometimes needs our attention to detail and the putting in place of symbols that represent the Christian traditions of Christmas.

This is one of a number of Christmas trees that South Tyneside Council has erected in the borough, this one right in the town centre at the junction of King Street and Ocean Road, Fowler Street and Mile End Road. This year the lights have been almost spectacular, and despite the doom and gloom of the economy and the recession we can have no excuses for failing to enjoy what is around us this Christmas.

Camera details: Pentax K100D, 50mm lens, 1/6 second (hand held) f4, iso 800

  2. How lovely. I think I may send this picture to my friends in Colchester to show HOW IT SHOULD BE DONE. Ours are always very disappointing.
