The Parade passes the Town Hall

Remembrance Sunday parade, South Shields

Remembrance Sunday 2008 #2.

Today, November 11th. is known as Armistice Day, it is now exactly 90 years since the guns fell silent on the western front at the end of the First Great War. It was supposed to be the war that would end all wars, but we have since taken that statement with a pinch of salt.

I am hoping that when the clock strikes eleven this morning that millions of people all over the South Shields and the UK will stop what they are doing and observe a customary two minutes silence, to pause for thought, and remember those who sacrificed their lives in the service of future generations.

We held our Remembrance Sunday Parade in South Shields this last weekend and I’m featuring picture from that event this week, here we see the parade starting at the Town Hall to make it’s way up Westoe Road to the Cenotaph.

Selective colouring was done in Photoshop.
