River Tyne, South Shields

Northern Producer leaves the Tyne

The floating oil platform at the rear of the picture is the Northern Producer which has been a semi-permanent feature on our skyline since she arrived January of this year at the yard of Aker McNulty in South Shields. Early on Saturday morning she was towed from the River Tyne on the completion of the modification work to be taken to the North Sea near the Shetland Isles.

This picture was taken from the Mill Dam, South Shields as the sun set on Friday evening as final preparations for the journey were made.

Camera details: Konica Minolta Dimage Z3, 55mm lens, 1/750 second, f8, iso 100
