Policing the Great North Run
There were many policemen and women actually running in the Great North Run from Newcastle to South Shields, but these policemen were playing a more “supporting role” as outriders. Safety is always a great concern when 52,000 people take to the streets alongside many thousands of spectators, relatives, and friends.
This police patrol was taking a well earned rest behind the finishing line in South Shields. I imagine it is not easy keeping a large motorbike upright and steady for around 15 miles at little more than walking pace!
