Pyracantha, South Shields

Burning Bush

Pyracantha Goldthorn in a South Shields garden, close to the sea front.

I wonder if when Moses was describing the “burning bush” in the Bible, if he was looking at a similar shrub?

It fascinates me that once these berries have dried, shrivelled, or been eaten by the birds, the leaves will fade and fall away and the plant, for intents and purposes, will look dead. Yet, by the end of spring it will be preparing itself for it’s next blaze of glory.
