King Street, South Shields

King Street, South Shields

This is the view of King Street, South Shields looking towards the old Town Hall and the Market Place on what should have been a busy Saturday afternoon. Our summer this year seems to be a continuation of a very long winter with incessant rain, grey skies, and cool temperatures.

The fallen leaves are no indeication of an early onset of autumn, rather they have been “felled” by the weight of the rain. If this weekend was not bad enough with floods in neighbouring towns, the remnants of hurricane/tropical storm Hannah are due to pass this way on Wednesday or Thursday – more wet and windy days ahead!

  1. That’s a fantastic shot. It does tie in with autumn nicely, although it’s not an autumn leaf. Very effective use of clour and mono. Really strking image
