Here’s a good idea on show at the Enviro-fair in the Bents Park, South Shields – solar power for domestic applications. Solar panels on our roof could actually be a boon if we could swallow the initial capital costs involved in installing them. Surprisingly we really do have sufficient sunshine in the UK to be able to gain from them.
I was reading recently about a lady in the Shetland Islands who gets all of her electricity and heat for free and sells the unused excess to the National Grid. After five years of relying on solar energy she is now turning a small profit!
