Mouth of the Tyne festival, South Shields

2008 Mouth of the Tyne Festival

The 4th. Mouth of the Tyne Festival took place in South Shields and Tynemouth at the weekend but I missed the spectacular opening parade on Saturday evening while we were away in Yorkshire. Luckily I caught up with some of the wild and zany free entertainment that was taking place along the promenade on Sunday.

This act caught my eye, Mr. Whippy and the Cornettes, singing out of an ice cream van, what a hoot!

The ice cream vendor’s van was also the dressing room, backdrop, and stage, and the artistes appeared by climbing out of the windows, I promise you have never seen anything so whacky but great fun! They were positioned just behind “Ghandi’s Temple” on the sea front at South Shields.

Camera details: Pentax K100D, 85mm lens, 1/500 second, f8, iso 200
