Medieval fayre, Jarrow near South Shields

Well armed medieval housewife!

I’m not sure if this crossbow belongs to her or her husband, if it’s hers I hope he gets back from the pub in good time! Apparently this type of crossbow was purposely made small enough to conceal underneath one’s clothing.

I wonder if these were ever used to defend South Shields?

Camera details; Pentax K100D, 28mm lens, 1/350 second, f8, iso 200

  2. You would have to wear heavy, loose clothing to conceal that weapon! Neat photo.
