Big wave, Roker near South Shields

… the North Sea!

Roker and Seaburn are just a few minutes down the coast from South Shields and they have the benefit of broad flat beaches, the downside is that tides are more pronounced. The pier at Roker can sometimes be the place for high drama when the seas are especially rough, but this corner is noted for it’s “wet” properties.

Wear a good waterproof coat when walking along here!

Camera details; Pentax K100D, 82mm lens, 1/1500 second, f6.7, iso 200

  1. I love stop-action on crashing waves, you caught yourself a doozy here! The spectacle is greatly enhanced by the human figure giving scale.
