paste eggs, South Shields

Getting ready for Easter

A tradion that we have enjoyed for many years is making “paste eggs” for Easter, I did it when I was a child, as did my parents, and here our children do the same. Eggs are hard boiled and decorated, and in the past games were played with the eggs being rolled down hill, the first eggs to break were “out”.

These eggs have been decorated by the children of Mortimer Primary School, South Shields.

Do you have any particular Easter traditions?

  1. Those children have had great fun doing this. I remember painting eggs as a child. I don’t particularly have any Easter traditions as I’m usually too buy looking after dogs for people who do! A friend here has a garden and he holds an Easter Egg hunt every year for the local children. It’s a large – open to the public at times, but private garden – so it’s large and there are lots of places to hide eggs. The parents, of course, get together and drink tea or wine!
