sahdow play on Sandhaven beach, South Shields

Shadow play

Sometimes the most mundane can make an interesting picture, this small picket fence staked into the sands of Sandhaven beach, South Shields is there for a purpose. It is attempting to prevent wind blown sand from reaching the nearby road, and allowing the particular grasses that grow in the sand to prosper and protect the sand dunes that we have.

Shot in mid afternoon sunlight the shadows illustrate the form and texture of the dune and the harsh treatment received from the salt laden air upon the wooden staves.

Camera details; Pentax K100D, 165mm lens, 1/2000 second, f4.5, iso 200

  2. Hi, Curly.
I just realised I haven’t been here for while.
I particularly like this high contrast image of shadow. It is simple image but have something that telling me. I need to go out and extend territory for taking more photo.
