Golf at Whitburn

Golf is a popular sport in South Tyneside with three clubs having courses in the borough. The Whitburn, and the South Shields Golf Clubs have courses which meander across Cleadon Hills, and the Boldon Golf club is situated near the western border with Sunderland. Some South Shields players like to use all three courses for a little variety. Wind is always a factor on these hilly courses so close to the coast.

  1. Nice swing!

Playing Golf here in my country seems to be a “rich men” business. You need to have time, you need to have money (the expensive club membership fees). But, I know, many business transactions are closed at golf course, many executives’ meeting will always include a round of golf!

    Do you play golf?

  2. I never understood golf. I try to think of ways to explain it to an Alien but was never successful.

  3. Not my idea of a good time. I’m with Dickens when he said it was a good walk wasted.
