Back lane bin lines

Waiting for the bin men

It doesn’t always look pretty in South Shields, and I have to say that the unpretty scenes pretty well look even worse when it rains! This scene could be any lane in the town, or even your town, but at least it’s uniform, straight, neat and tidy.

The bin men will be along later, empty them, clean up, then the sun will shine and everything will be back to normal. It’s worth noting that our recyclable rubbish – glass, paper, cardboard, aluminium, and glass is collected on a different day.

Camera details: Pentax K100D, 82mm lens, 1/20 second, f11, iso 200

  1. Reminds me of a scene in Get Carter, where Michael Caine is being chased down such a back street. Only this one had washing lines strung across the road.

  2. I think this makes for an interesting and rather beautiful photograph
