Guy Fawkes Night, South Shields

Fireworks

This is a big picture of our biggest organised fireworks display for Guy Fawkes Night. It took place on Sunday evening so all of the children could see it before going back to school on Monday. The fairground stayed open until 10.00 p.m. and thousands of people flocked to the beach for this annual spectacle. The picture was taken from Trow Rocks, where I was the only photographer, I had easy access and egress from the site, what a way to catch those reflections in the sea!

Camera details: Pentax K100D, 50mm lens, 3 seconds, f8, iso 400, velbon tripod. (White balance was set to tungsten to compensate for the street lights)

  3. Taking photos of fireworks is hard. But you did a great job! I don’t know if you see much noise in the original picture, but here it’s quite obvious. Try to run the picture in Noise Ninja, a plug-in for Photoshop. It usually works great.
