South Marine Park, South Shields

Big boys’ toys! You can’t beat playing with an ultra large model railway. The Lakeshore Railroad in the South Marine Park, South Shields is one of England’s few 9 inch gauge railways, it carries passengers around the park and is extremely popular with our visitors. Here we see the Santa Fe loco being reversed into it’s shed at the end of the day.

I’ve used Alien Skin’s Exposure plug-in for Photoshop to replicate Kodak TriX film before adding a warm brown tone.

Camera details: Pentax K100D, 28mm. lens, 1/90 second, f5.6, iso 400

  1. why don’t I call more often, the warm brown tone is cool and the details are not lost on me. Thanks. There is a similar train here, must visit it again. And we have a Gateshead as well. Photo exhib outdoor: I keep hearing that art is no longer confined to galleries but that one is somewhat marginal.

  2. We used to have one here in West London and I have many memories of being taken as a child. Alas, it is no longer here. Thanks for the photo!

  4. This is Johnny driving Mountaineer. I’m the usual driver and on weekends this lad comes and helps out. Excellent image.
