The West Park, South Shields

West Park, South Shields

The autumnal glow

How silently they tumble down
And come to rest upon the ground
To lay a carpet, rich and rare,
Beneath the trees without a care,
Content to sleep, their work well done,
Colors gleaming in the sun.

At other times, they wildly fly
Until they nearly reach the sky.
Twisting, turning through the air
Till all the trees stand stark and bare.
Exhausted, drop to earth below
To wait, like children, for the snow.

By Elsie Brady

The West Park is one of the older public spaces in South Shields and it retains some of it’s Victorian charm at the bandstand where not so long ago silver and brass bands entertained us on a sunny Sunday afternoon. I wonder, will it be carpeted in white this winter?

  1. I like the shot, very nice color. I like the low angle, which emphasizes the leaves in the foreground. Looks like it would be a nice place to listen to some music on a warm summer evening. Have a good week.

  2. I agree with everything Clueless in Boston said about the photo, Curly, plus the wish for you to have a good week. And if it does snow on the bandstand, I know you’ll get a great photo for us.

  5. A few more weeks for us. So far I have taken only one Fall leaf photo. Many more to come though … I am always intrigued by how common photos are around the world in the City Daily Photo Community. But seasons defiantly vary. It is hard to full Mother Nature.
