Determination in Great North Run

I couldn’t resist showing another image from the 2007 Great North Run. Amongst the 50,000 competitors is a raft of determined gritty participants who are wheelchair bound, and each year they return to complete the 13.5 mile course from Newcastle to South Shields. Most of them manage to return times that able bodied contestants would be proud to boast of themselves, and I am in awe of their spirit and fight.

This shot was taken on the John Reid Road, South Shields, a long uphill part of the course.

I’m fortunate enough to have saved the thousands of pictures stored on the hard drive of my old pc after purchasing an IDE hard drive caddy, it’s now in use as a portable 80Gb USB drive!

Camera details; Pentax K100D, 450mm lens, 1/500 second, f6.7
