Staged shot

The Westovians Theatre, South Shields, getting ready for the next production. This shot was taken from the production room where the sound and lighting are adjusted.

The small theatre, on Pier Parade, now owned by The Westovians, started life as an open air shelter where people could sit shaded from the sun or the rain when they visited the town in the Victorian days (you can still see the original ironwork at the two sides), part of it became a bomb shelter during the last war, and it eventually became a theatre. The Pier Pavillion and the Westovians are members of the Little Theatre Guild.
