Boy soldier in re-enactment at Arbeia, South Shields

Ready for battle at Arbeia

The thought of seeing child soldiers in action perhaps in Africa or Asia always appals me, however it appears as thought there was historical precedent. This young soldier is ready to take part in a re-enactment at the Arbeia Roman Fort in South Shields. He is standing atop of the reconstructed West Gate of the fort.

South Shields Daily Photo (Curly) and his family are currently away on vacation and hope that these pictures continue to appear, as if by magic!

  1. I agree with you – I don’t even understand why toy guns are sold. But this is a very interesting photo. Did you manipulate the image?

  2. A young Robin Hood. He’d blend in well in Nottingham.
