Russian food for sale, South Shields Continental Market

Continental Market, day 3

Here’s another stall in King Street’s Continental Market, South Shields, selling a variety of Russian barbecued dishes. Sashlyk is a barbecued pork with marinade. i guess that pelmeni is the Russian equivalent of the Italian tortelloni.

  1. Shame I can’t have any of those coz I’m pesco-vegetarian. But it’s a nice photo.

  2. Curley – I like the composition and sense of depth. The chalkboard with its bright colors pops out of the picture into an entirely different plane. The overall color scheme is very pleasing. And the prices are so cheap the even we unfortunates who are paid in US$ could afford it! (I’m off Europe until the exchange rate improves.)

  3. Fascinating..so it doesn’t “all happen” in London. At last I’ve got you onto a feed notifier which should keep me better informed. Posting daily is hard enough…I still haven’t cracked the “visit” regime.

  5. Do they actually give you a small piece to taste before you buy?

Interesting names. Nothing familiar to me.
