Arbeia Roman Fort, South Shields (2)

This is how we think our Roman Fort would have looked in around ad 200. This detailed model is located in a small museum within the reconstructed western gateway.

  1. I think this is a nice-looking village or town. I look at things Roman, including the “Lincoln” legion and the tombstones in Britain and wonder what life was really like in this days for the average person. It must have been mind boggling but then that was their way of life and they knew no other.
