South Shields harbour and Groyne Pier

Original colour version

This was the original version of yesterday’s post before I converted it to black and white. Which one do you prefer?

The view shows the harbour in South Shields where the River Tyne exits to the North Sea, on the extreme left is Tynemouth’s lighthouse, our lighthouse is in the centre, and the Groyne Pier is on the right. Shot taken not long after sunrise.

  2. This time I prefer the colour version, mainly because of the various shades of blue.

  3. Hard to say which is better. Each has its advantages. I guess I swing toward the black and white, but I hate to see it lose taht blue sky.

  7. I like both. The colors bring out the contrast in the sea and sky but……….. the black and white is more dramatic. Goes to show that you need to have both. Did you ever see a colorized black and white movie, Casablanca comes to mind ? The drama of the movie is diminished in color.

  12. WOW! Look at that impressive sky. Gotta go with the full-color on this one….but the B&W is impressive too.
