The Bethesda 8th South Shields (Baptist Tabernacle) Company of the Boys Brigade on parade in Romilly Street, South Shields on their way to Westoe Baptist Church.

The Boys Brigade is a Christian youth organisation most associated with the Methodist movement in the U.K.

  2. Thats not the Bethesda Curly, its the Baptist Tabernacle from Marsden.

  3. Interesting, (I followed them all the way from the Bethesda in Victoria Road, unless they just formed up there, thanks anyway)

I believe the photo may have been taken from the so-called ‘Battalion Parade’ last year and is most certainly of the 8th South Shields Company (Baptist Tabernacle) – the 15th South Shields Company (Bethesda Free Church) does not take part as this parade involves non-Boys Brigade groups e.g. ‘Youth Bands’.
    Our Company does not agree with this and will therefore act accordingly until Battalion parades are once again exactly that, for Boys’ Brigade members only.
