Feeding swans, south marine park, south shields

South Marine Park, South Shields

We have a large colony of swans in the South Marine Park, South Shields, mainly Hooper Swans and Mute Swans. They are joined by a varied selection of duck, geese, and sea birds, all of course are very popular with the folks who like to feed them. I don’t know why but Sunday mornings have become a busy time for feeding the birds.

The South Marine Park is also popular for it’s boating lake, the local Model Boat Club meets here too (on Sunday mornings), and it also boasts a nine inch guage steam railway called the Lakeshore Railroad. I’ll try and feature some other views of the park over the coming couple of weeks, but not all at once!

  2. No sorry Sally, no black swans. There are some on the south coast of England at a place called Dawlish, near Torquay.
