The most annoying little frogs in the world?

“Ding, ding, a ring ting ting”

Probably the most annoying little sounds you ever heard!

I found the Crazy Frogs in the Ocean Beach Amusement Park in South Shields, dreaded prizes for some testing or amusing game. Fun for some, I guess.

A last look at the Metro Centre

Well, at least for now.

Our trip from South Shields to Gateshead’s Metro Centre finished with a few last rides for the kids at Metroland, which will close this week. Just the right time to try a longish exposure to capture this ride spinning for the last time. This has a fair bit of Photoshop treatment to counteract the very strong light coming from the overhead windows, additional layers with colour and texture were added before painting in black through a mask to reveal the lights on the ride.

Metroland to close

The New Metroland is an indoor funfair at Gateshead’s Metrocentre, packed full with all of the usual rides, such as this roller coaster. Unfortunately it’s time to grab those last rides before the Metroland finally closes on the 20th. of this month to make way for a new multi-screen cinema.

I’ll show one more picture from Metroland tomorrow before returning to South Shields pictures.

Wonderment

girl looking at toy

She’s amazed!

Having taken the short trip from South Shields to Gateshead’s Metro Centre we discovered that the Metroland indoor funfair is about to close, as a kind of tribute there was a display of miniaturised scale models of old fashioned funfair rides being displayed to raise money for charitable causes.

That’s where we found this little girl and her lion transfixed by the old fashioned dolls swinging around in this little fantasy world.

This is cropped from a larger image, where I used two layers in Photoshop, a black and white layer over a coloured layer, a soft eraser was set to 50% opacity to reveal the underlying colour for the young girl.

Hailstones

hailstones, South Shields fairground

A bad afternoon in the fairground

It’s quite incredible how resilient South Shields folks are!

Easter time is the time to go to the fairground and have some fun, it’s a family affair for many, and a few sharp showers of hailstones, sleet, or snow, isn’t going to stop us.

Lady with a head full of hailstones takes shelter next to the dodgems.

You need a slow shutter speed for shots like these, blue toning added in Photoshop after desaturating.
