Shopping in the showers
Northumberland Street, Newcastle
I was out of South Shields most of yesterday on a trip up to Newcastle to have the ccd sensor of my Pentax professionally cleaned -ten pounds exceedingly well spent!
It was very showery with a few rumbles of thunder too, this was the view down Northumberland Street as I tested the camera out (no sign of dust spots, and no need to use the healing brush either), this is supposed to be England’s busiest street outside of Oxford Street in London. As you can see, the weather forced most of the shoppers into the indoor malls at Eldon Square and Monument to keep dry. Those that were on the streets seemed to be in a hurry to get away and catch a bus or a Metro, something I should have done!
Seeing as I’m invading “Toon” territory again, why don’t you have a look at Newcastle upon Tyne Daily Photo while you are here?

The recession is clearly making its mark up north, highlighted by the shuttered up Zavvi.
