Early arrival
QE 2 makes final visit
The Cunard luxury cruise ship Queen Elizabeth 2 makes an early morning arrival, passing the Groyne in South Shields just after sunrise. This was the last time that she was to be seen on the River Tyne as she will shortly be retired to serve out her days as a floating hotel in Dubai.
Despite the early arrival many people had waited along the banks of the river from 05:30 am to greet her.
