Bents Park, South Shields

The Dragon (Bents Park)

Here’s another shot which could make an interesting desktop. Spring daffodils decorating the perimeter of the “Dragon”, Bents Park, in South Shields.

Despite having lived here for over fifty years I have yet to discover why this expanse of recreational land is referred to as the “dragon”, currently it has a number of football pitches marked out on it, and regular Sunday morning league matches have taken place there for as far back as I can remember. In a few weeks time as the summer season of free concerts and entertainment arrives, and the football season is over, it will become an overspill car park.
