South Marine Park

We are rightly proud of our three main sea front parks, the South Marine Park in South Shields is currently undergoing a very expensive and exciting renovation with the aid of cash from the National Lottery Fund. Eventually it will be restored to how it was meant to be when it was first opened in the days of Queen Victoria. I found this specimen in a rose bed near the Ocean Road entrance to the park.

  1. Curly, this is beautiful! The colours and the shape of the petals remind me of Georgia O’Keeffe’s paintings, my favorite US artist.

  2. This is really special. The water drops really set it off.
